The Crisis Intervention Team is made up of officers who have volunteered to receive specialized training in the area of mental illness. This training enables the members of Crisis Intervention Team to more effectively understand and assist those affected by mental illness. Members of the Crisis Intervention Team respond to any call involving a person with a diagnosed mental illness, who is off their medication, an individual who is suicidal, depressed, or exhibit symptoms of mental illness, or any call where information on mental illness is requested. The banner grasped by the eagle's beak bears the Crisis Intervention Team motto "Auxilium Per Scientia" which translated states "Assistance Through Understanding". The eagle's head is turned toward its talon holding a laurel branch; signifying the team's desire for a peaceful resolution.

The Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) is comprised of officers who have received specialized training regarding negotiating with subjects in high-risk, barricade and hostage-taking situations. The goal of the Crisis Negotiation Team is to resolve these situations peacefully, and safely for all parties involved. 

The Field Training Officer (FTO) Unit is comprised of veteran officers who have been selected to provide on-the-job training for new officers, after completion of the basic police academy. The FTOs evaluate officers in training (OITs) on a daily basis. This program ensures that Collierville Police Department develops well rounded, and highly trained police officers to serve the Town of Collierville. The FTO Program is based on the San Jose, CA Police Department’s FTO Program, which is commonly referred to as the "San Jose Model." It has been modified to meet the needs of the Collierville Police Department. Over the course of its existence, the San Jose Model has been revised and restructured due to court decisions, and improvements. In its current form, the San Jose Model offers a program that is standardized, consistent, valid and reliable. 

The Collierville Police Department’s K-9 Unit currently consists of three dual-purpose trained canine teams. Each team is composed of a handler and a dual-purpose trained canine. The canines are utilized for narcotics detection and patrol work. Unit duties consist of searching for and locating illegal drugs, building and suspect searches, tracking, evidence recovery, and criminal apprehension. The unit greatly enhances the number of narcotic arrests in Collierville by performing drug interdiction on the major highways, assisting patrol officers, and assisting the Criminal Investigation Division. The canine teams are as follows: Lt. Justin Weaver & K-9 Rosco, Officer Hunter Brooks & K-9 Joker, and Officer Ryan Dunlap & K-9 Cudder. Upon retirement of K-9 Rosco, Officer Phillip Redwine will be joining the unit in the Fall of 2021.  

The Logistics Unit handles the routine maintenance, upkeep and deployment of the Department's specialized vehicles and equipment, including the Mobile Command Truck and Mobile Command Trailer, Camera Trailers and 4-wheelers. Officers are accepted on a voluntary basis and they handle deployment of the equipment for training purposes and special events, along with deployment in emergency situations.  Routine operation, fueling and maintenance of the equipment is part of their duties. All Logistics Officers train and work closely with officers from other units within the Department for events such as the Independence Day celebration and Christmas Parade.  The Logistics Officers stand ready to deploy any specialized equipment that is required to help bring an event to a safe conclusion.
