What's The Job?
Working as a WWTP Operator, you can expect to perform highly responsible, skilled trades work in the operation and maintenance of the Town’s Wastewater Treatment Plant in accordance with EPA standards. You will plan, coordinate, direct, and schedule work in the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant facility; instruct workers about safe and efficient operating methods; locate and correct major operating problems in any area of the plant and refer such problems, as necessary, to the Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor along with recommendations for corrective action. You will also operate and check equipment, instruments, pumps, valves, meters, and other apparatuses; shut down portions of plant operations to deal with emergencies; make daily inspections of mechanical and electrical operating conditions including the condition of equipment; check efficiency of pumps, blowers, overflows, and by-passes; maintain and log accurate records of shift operations including instrument readings and chemicals used. Perform other duties as required. This position may also require working weekends and evenings.
Minimum Requirements
Here is what you must have to be considered for the position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree with major course concentration in Engineering, Chemistry or a related science field; and one (1) year operating experience at a Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Special Requisites
- Must be in compliance with TDEC Rule 0400-49-01 and remain in compliance throughout employment.
