CHANGE IN USE OF THE BUILDING
THE USE OF THE BUILDING IS CHANGING FROM THE PREVIOUS OCCUPANT
It would be to your advantage to attend a Development meeting with Town of Collierville department officials to discuss your project. This meeting is very beneficial as it will include the following departments: Engineering, Planning, Building & Codes, and the Fire Department.
The meetings are held every Tuesday at Town Hall in the Development Department. Please contact the Development Department at (901) 457-2360 to make an appointment.
If your needs do not require the Development meeting, then you will need to contact the Planning Department at (901) 457-2360 to submit plans for approval before you are able to apply for permits.

WORK NEEDS TO BE DONE ON THE BUILDING TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR BUSINESS OR REPAIRS NEED TO BE MADE (E.G. HVAC, ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING, INTERIOR ALTERATIONS, EXTERIOR ALTERATIONS, DOORS, AWNINGS, FENCES, PARKING, GREASE TRAPS, CO2 CONTAINERS, SATELLITE DISHES, ETC.)

CATEGORY 3
BUILDING IS TO BE USED THE EXACT SAME WAY WITH NO REPAIRS
THE USE OF THE BUILDING IS NOT CHANGING FROM THE PREVIOUS OCCUPANT
If you are not altering the establishment, and there is no change in the use of the building, you will need to apply for a CO without Permit. A CO without Permit is also issued when a pre-existing Collierville business is changing ownership, or changing the name of the business.
If the use of the building is not changing (office to another office or restaurant to another restaurant) and NO work is being done (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, interior / exterior alterations, etc.), then you will need to contact the Codes Division to apply for a "CO without Permit".
