Town works to correct utility reading error

Post Date:07/25/2024 4:24 PM

The Town recently discovered an issue with our utility meter readings. A new employee responsible for reading meters either did not perform the readings or recorded inaccurate data. This problem began in May, and initially, the employee received further training. The readings continued to be incorrect throughout June, and as of July 11th, the individual is no longer employed with the Town.

As a result, you may notice higher utility bills arriving next week, reflecting accurate readings. We understand that this adjustment may cause concern but are committed to answering your questions and concerns.

Please contact us at 901-457-2240 or email utilities@colliervilletn.gov. You can also monitor your utility account, view previous bills, and analyze your consumption at nwesuite.colliervilletn.gov/eSuite.Utilities.

To prevent similar issues in the future, the Town is implementing the AMI Project (Advanced Metering Infrastructure). Starting in mid-August, we will begin replacing existing meters with automatic readers. This new technology will ensure accurate readings and eliminate the potential for human error, providing a reliable and transparent billing process for all residents.

To set up an account, you will need your account number and the full name on the account. Then, visit nwesuite.colliervilletn.gov/eSuite.Utilities to get started.

For assistance or more information, please call 901-457-2240 or email utilities@colliervilletn.gov. It may take some time to address all inquiries and concerns, but we are here to help.

With the AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) that the Town is installing soon, the service consumption data will be much more detailed than what is shown here! The Town and residents will be able to monitor consumption in real-time, enabling quicker detection and resolution of issues such as leaks or unusual usage patterns.
