All you need to get started is an internet connection and a Lucius E. & Elsie C. Burch, Jr. library card.

Most users will access R.E.A.D.S. through the Libby app for iOS (Apple) and Android, the libbyapp.com website, or the R.E.A.D.S. website. 

There are no fees to check out items. Borrowing items is simple:

• Log in with your library card number (found on the back of your library card) 
• Each library card limited to 15 items checked out and 20 holds
• Select 7, 14, or 21 day checkout period

How many books can I check out and how long can I keep them?

You can check out up to 15 titles. You can choose a checkout period of 7, 14, or 21 days.

How do I return an eBook?

All titles are automatically returned at the end of their lending periods, so you never have to worry about late fees. To return an item early, click Manage Loan. If another user has that item on hold, they will be able to check it out sooner.

How do I renew an eBook?

Renewing digital titles works a little differently than renewing physical books from the library. When you renew a digital title, it doesn't extend your lending period. Instead, it lets you borrow the title again immediately after your current checkout expires (if there are no existing holds) or it places you on the wait list to borrow the title again as soon as possible (if there are existing holds). You'll see the option to renew a title three days before it's set to expire if there are no holds on the item.

• Go to your Shelf.
• Tap Loans at the top of the screen.
• Tap Manage Loan.
• Tap Renew Loan, then Renew.

• Every item is available for immediate streaming on a computer or mobile device.
• On the digital app, borrowed content can be temporarily downloaded for offline use.
• Kid's mode setting allows young people access to content geared toward ages 12 and under.
• Hoopla's eReader is interactive, allowing a comic book to be read panel by panel.

Each Hoopla user may check out up to three items a month, with a new four item limit available at the start of each calendar month.

To ensure every patron has access to the titles they love, there is a three items per month checkout limit per patron.

The Library also has a monthly Hoopla budget, which is divided into a daily budget. If you are not able to check out due to the daily budget being reached, please try again the next day.

Hoopla checkout lengths vary depending on the format of the item:

• eBooks, eAudiobooks and Comics: 21 days 
• Movies & Television Shows: 3 days
• BingePass: 7 days
• Music Albums: 7 days

Hoopla BingePass is a type of Hoopla Instant borrow that gives library patrons unlimited access to entire streaming collections for 7 days with a single borrow. It’s a way to explore great online content—and a lot of it!
